In which, after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, Jimmy, Alan and Chris carry on like nothing has ever happened in the hope that no one will notice. If they even listen at all, that is.
There’s been plenty of water under the bridge since the last time we took to the airwaves and Jimmy bravely starts by asking whether anything life changing has happened. Maybe, maybe not, you’ll have to listen to find out before being taken on a magical mystery tour of the last 30 months. Maloney, Lowe and everything inbetween come under scrutiny whilst Jimmy vainly tries to keep the other two from waffling on past his 15-minute cut-off.
Whilst there’s no point in trying to create mystery on that point (of course he failed), you’ll have to find out who makes the list of Latics traitors for yourself.
Not quite on the home stretch, we also pause to reflect on whether you can claim a ten-year anniversary when your output has been this sporadic for the second half of it. A debate that doesn’t stop us reminiscing for the simpler times when the TPAN owl was just a fledgling, Twitter was fun and the thought of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister was just a twinkle in a Russian bot farm’s social media drafts.
Things wrap up with a trip to the knackers yard, just to see how far away Latics are from it, whether BDSM is affecting the club’s recruitment and, you know, whether things might actually be alright in the end.
It’s twenty minutes over time, slightly shambolic and sounds like it was recorded in a fishtank, but if any of that is a surprise then welcome to your first episode of the Pie at Night Podcast. For the rest, welcome back there may be more…
